I remember being young when I first saw the T.V. adaptation of Stephen King’s IT. I remember the instant fear that took over my body when he reared his head out of the darkness of that sewer grate. Watching the first half of the adaptation was enough to give me nightmares for years to come. Re-watching it now, in my twenties, still sometimes gives me the chills and takes me back to those nights when I wouldn’t be able to sleep because of it. Not too long ago I stumbled across some information regarding IT that was more than exciting.
According to IMDB there is a theatrical adaptation of IT supposedly coming to theaters in 2011. There isn’t any information on a plot or a cast but I did read that the movie would take a lot more from the book and would be done in a completely different way then the T.V. adaptation. I haven’t had the pleasure of reading the book but I do own a copy and from the information I’ve read over the years about the character of Pennywise I’ve learned that it goes deeper than the T.V. adaptation showed. I don’t really know who they could get to replace Tim Curry because honestly his acting made the movie. I think it had a lot to do with the fact that he never broke character on set and would walk around and act like Pennywise. It would be great to see Pennywise on the big screen so I’m really hoping this project pulls through and they find great actors to portray the characters.
Georgie boy , they float down here they all float ! Scary shit ! Tim Curry ruled that part . I would give John Leguzamo a shot with those pointy teeth of his remember him in spawn ?
YES! Tim Curry did in fact own that part. No matter who they give the part to Tim Curry will always be the best actor to play Pennywise. As for John, I don’t think I can see him pulling off Pennywise. I just hope they pick someone great to portray him.
