In September of 2008 Don Mancini and David Kirschner started talking about a reboot of the Childs Play series. The new Childs Play would be written and directed by Mancini and Universal has green lighted the project with pre-production beginning in 2010. Brad Dourif will be returning to voice the demonic doll we know as Chucky.

   Don mentioned that the choice of a reboot and not a continuation was due to fans wanting to see a scary Chucky again. So the plan is to go back to straight forward Horror rather than Horror/Comedy.  According to him the new film will be full of  new twists and turns but won’t stray too far from the original. He also stated that this will be a much scarier and darker retelling of Chuckies story.  Only time will tell if this classic killer can hack it in a generation of re-boosted franchises.
