Max Brooks novel World War Z is hands down one of the best zombie stories ever told. Those that have read it know why a well made movie would be amazing. The movie had a rough start but it seems that now it’s actually being filmed finally.

When talks of the movie first surfaced I was more than excited to hear that a movie adaptation was being planned. Along the way there were delays because of the grand scale of the sets needed and the lack of budget. There was also a bidding war between Leonardo DiCaprio’s Production company and Brad Pitt’s company. Brad Pitt’s company Plan B Entertainment won, J. Michael Straczynski joined as a screenwriter and Marc Forster joined to direct. The movie bounced around, the screenplay got leaked, then it was re-written by Matthew Michael Carnahan. Brad Pitt is set to star and a lot of actors, such as Milo Ventigila, Matthew Fox and Ed Harris have been in and out of roles.

As of right now the film has begun filming in Glasgow, Scotland. If done correctly this could be one of the greatest zombie films ever made. Another awesome piece of info is that the scheduled release date is December 21st, 2012. I know where I’ll be spending doomsday.
