When it comes to slasher films, Friday the 13th is my all time favorite. I even enjoyed the 2009 remake by Marcus Nispel, who also directed the 2003 Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. When they remade the movie in 2009 I was skeptical as to what they were going to do with the series. In the wake of all these Hollywood remakes, especially in the horror genre, you’re never quite sure how good the movies going to be. So when they didn’t follow up with a sequel I assumed they were just doing a one and done remake.
Paramount placed the Untitled Friday the 13th installment for a March 13th, 2015 release date but has since switched it to November 13th,2015 with it’s new movie Scouts vs. Zombies. So far there is no cast, no plot and no real solid info on the movie itself. The only thing we know is that director David Bruckner of V/H/S is signed on. With him being signed on there was a lot of talk about the movie being filmed in the same “found footage” style that V/H/S was filmed in. The other question in the air is if it’s going to follow the previous film or be it’s own stand alone film.
Hollywood’s new formula seems to be: Remake a movie, wait five years, remake the movie again.
